Title: Crazy Maker Media: Colored pencil on paper Size: 19" x 25" Framing: framed with mat Price or Current disposition: Sold Date: Late 80s or early 90s Comments: This drawing began as a pure abstraction, just playing with irregular shapes juxtaposed against a regular geometric pattern. But as the background shapes began to develop some of them seemed a little figural and I built on that as I went. I then added facial features that seemed to fit. It ended up having a lot of the elements seen in Edvard Munch's "The Scream." My own title is based on something I once heard a counselor say: that behind every crazy person there is usually a crazy maker. The crazy maker seems perfectly nice and reasonable but consciously or unconsciously is pushing the other persons buttons, making them crazy. The crazy maker is just as crazy as the one who is driven crazy but most people don't realize it and are crazy makers are seldom the ones that get locked away. |
