Title: Sacred Geometries Media: Colored pencil on white paper Size: 19" x 19" Framing: Framed with circular mat Price or Current disposition: Sold Date: Mid 1980s Comments: Much of the geometry used in the mandalas I created in the 1980s was picked up from the book "The Secrets of Ancient Geometry and Its Use" by Tons Brunes. The geometric constructions around the perimeter of this work are taken largely from that book. The overall 9x9 grid is a version of the vastupurusa mandala which is used in the layout of some Hindu temples and the center geometry with pentagon is from a method for squaring a circle given in "Sacred Geometry: Philosophy and Practice" by Robert Lawlor. |
