Comments: By 1989 I was making fewer mandalas and was making more images in the "Horizons" and "Patterns in Space" series. The patterns in space typically involved fluid patterns of floating spheres juxtaposed against rigid geometric grids. The language of spheres in space then made its way back into a number of later mandalas which became more spatial or three dimensional. In this work I was also interested in the tension between disks and spheres that were unbalanced and unresolved in space.
