Comments: This mandala began with a geometric diagram, built up thick layers of oil pastel obscuring the diagram, and then some of the more essential elements of the diagram were then redrawn. At some point in building up the pastels and getting the textures just right a sort of enigmatic, embryonic glyph seemed to assert itself in the middle of the image. It seemed to me to suggest both a symbol of some forgotten language and the generation of life.
