Comments: One of the sort of visual exercises or games in the irregular shape series was to take one simple form and try to maximize the variety of the form while still maintaining the basic defining characteristics of the form. It is sort of a "unity and variety" theme -- something you see in nature all the time like pebbles on a beach or clouds in the sky. This work has two foreground shapes, the thin squiggles and the more compact stones, and then picks up on the squiggle motif again at a larger scale in the background. The bars with patterns provides an underlying structure for the whole as in so many other of my drawings.
