Comments: This work is somewhere between the Pattern series and the Mandala series. Like most of the mandalas it was also worked and reworked over a long period. The surface texture is also unique and up close it almost has the feel of a woven carpet. I have always liked hanging it together with Dissolution. The two are not directly related but there is something about the mood of the two that seemed to complement each other. They also seemed to form a kind of duality. Pool is full of circles and suggests a kind of welling up of life. Dissolution is dominated by squares and suggests structure or order that is dissolving away.
