Comments: This is one of three large Pattern pictures I did back to back in one month. The set took so many hours of shading it ended up injuring my arms and permanently reduced the number of hours I could spend drawing on any given day. It is one of the reasons I started doing more with oil pastels and acrylics. In this particular image I used a pattern of squares that I had found in a book of Chinese lattice patterns. The lattice had a nice stablizing effect that the foreground spheres and the background currents of smaller spheres could play off.
